How to Choose the Right HDTV for Cyber Monday?

It can be very confusing and sometimes frustrated when you’re looking to purchase a new HDTV; especially when you hear terms and specs such as UHD, resolution, refresh rates, etc. You want to make sure you have a good understanding of these terms so you’ll know what features you do need and the ones you can possibly do without.

Last Year’s Cyber Monday TV Deals

We always recommend looking through TV deals from last year’s Cyber Monday sale so that you can have an idea of what to expect this year around.

We were a little surprised at the number of retailers who didn’t make their Cyber Monday deals available early last year. In previous years, retailers have been pushing their deals earlier due to the rise of online Black Friday shopping.

Maybe they are reverting back to the true tradition of Cyber Monday. Where customers shop on the day of Cyber Monday and not on pre-cyber Monday events, cyber week, Cyber Monday month, etc. However, I wouldn’t bet on for this year though.

eBay

eBay had two HDTVs on sale during their Cyber Monday event. However, these tv deals became available late in the day on Cyber Monday and quickly sold out.

We are hoping for this year, that eBay advertises more TVs and actually make the deals available earlier.

Just like in previous Cyber Monday sales, Target was offering their infamous 15% Off sitewide promotion that could have been applied to any order. They were only advertising one HDTV which is the lowest amount we have ever seen compared to previous years.

Cyber Monday TV Predictions for 2018

This year’s Cyber Monday sale will definitely be full of great deals and deep discounts. Cyber Monday is considered to be the largest shopping day online and every year it gets bigger and better.

HDTVs, in particular, are one of the most sought-after items during Cyber Monday. Retailers know that and they will be trying to get your attention with all types of sales tactics.

Please note: Every HDTV with a sales tag is not always a good deal. Our team here only lists TV deals that are actually good deals and bargains.

Just like every year, you will see prices on HDTVs change frequently throughout the day on Cyber Monday. This only happens with select retailers. Basically, when one retailer drops the price on a specific TV model, other retailers will follow suit and drop theirs as well.

Stock Supply

The majority of these TV deals don’t last and the TV deals that include incentives, such as gift cards or bundled with a home theater system or game consoles, sell out within hours on Cyber Monday.

Stock supply will, most likely, be limited again this year around. My best tip is when you see a great TV deal, don’t wait too long – it may be out of stock or the price may have changed by the time you get back to it. You will also see more 4K Ultra TVs on sale; if you’re on the lookout for a 4K TV, you’ll definitely find it at a great price on Cyber Monday.

Size matters or does it?

You will most likely find the most selection and deeper discounts in the 40″ to 50″ category.

There will be lesser known TV brands such as Hisense, RCA, Proscan, Westinghouse, etc. on sale as well. The majority of those TV deals will be in the 24″ to 40″ category (with a few being in 50″ to 55″ range.)

Will there be any OLED TV deals on sale during Cyber Monday? Yes, I believe so. I think this will be the year of the OLED. Definitely be on the lookout for LG, you should see a few of their OLED TVs discounted.

Last, but not least, expect more TV bundles. A few retailers did it last year with good success; More retailers are sure to follow this year around.

Gift Cards

Expect gift cards or eGift cards with select TV models from select retailers. Every year, gift cards have been one of the main incentives that are paired with the purchase of an HDTV during Cyber Monday. You will most likely see the same type of gift card incentives this year too. You may also see more retailers offering gift cards with higher quality HDTVs and possibly see higher gift card amounts on select TV models.
