The Christmas and holiday season has always been the busiest shopping time of the year. To get ahead of the holiday shopping season, many retailers offer amazing promotions to maximize their holiday shopping sales. While Black Friday, which is the Friday after Thanksgiving, has always been a popular shopping day for brick and mortar retailers, Cyber Monday is the most busiest and popular “online” shopping day of the year.

What is Cyber Monday?

On Black Friday, many traditional brick and mortar retail stores offer some amazing deals and discounts on products. These offers often help to ensure that there are lines of people outside waiting for the stores to open up.

Cyber Monday is essentially the same shopping holiday for online retailers. Instead of waiting in line in cold weather for a store to open its doors, millions of people will be waiting for the biggest online sale event to start that will allow them to save a lot of money on their favorite electronics, apparel, and other popular items.

The term or name “Cyber Monday” was coined by a few members of the US National Retail Federation and Shop.org, and it was a strategic move to promote online shopping back when the Internet was in its early stages.

When Is Cyber Monday?

Cyber Monday is the first Monday following Thanksgiving, which is the Monday after the Black Friday madness.

It’s a great time for online shopping – the Thanksgiving holiday is over and there’s enough time to get all of your last minute shopping in and delivered to your door before the Christmas holiday.

For the 2019 shopping season, Cyber Monday will officially be on Monday, December 2nd. However, many online retailers will start offering Cyber Monday deals beforehand, usually the weekend of the main event.
